Playable aspects, class traits, starter ties, and build direction.

There are currently 14 playable classes in Serpent's Gaze. 8 of the classes are playable immediately after finishing the tutorial, and the remaining 6 can be unlocked by completing quests, often over multiple runs.

The default class players begin the tutorial with is the Aspect of the Magnolia.

Aspect of the Bold

The Aspect of the Bold is a strength-based class. It allows your damage to scale by 0.25% every 1HP that is missing, allowing for some runs to level almost entirely Toughness.

It is unlocked by defeating a Sleepwalker.

Class Feature: Increase damage by 0.25% per missing point of health.

Class Starter Relic: Staggering Physique

Aspect of the Dreamer

The Aspect of the Dreamer favours intelligence and elemental damage.

The Corresponding soul, Soul of the Attuned, has a chance to drop from any Serpentkin miniboss, however, it seems like it is dropped with a higher chance if you find the Serpentkin miniboss just before Vali's Arena in the Jirahka Ruins.

Class Feature: On elemental hit: Evoke a sigil matching the element. Use Any Ability: Consume a sigil to deal elemental damage to target.
Class Starter Relic: Greater Lightning Bolt

Aspect of the Dunes

The Aspect of the Dunes is a balanced class that slightly favours dexterity. The class plays around its relic, Dune Shroud, as utilizing the relic allows you to permanently reduce an attribute, granting the ability to deal more damage and temporarily increase your damage and damage negation via Dune Shroud.

It is unlocked by completing Mujica's questline

Class Feature: Deal more damage the less attributes you have.

Class Starter Relic: Dune Shroud

Aspect of the Feeble

The Aspect of the Feeble is a (masochistically) punishing class due to its class feature, starting relic and generally low stats. It's starting stats are not notable, and importantly, its Relic, Cower, will cause you to gain one stack of exposed. Exposed increases the damage taken by 50% for the next damage instance.

It is unlocked by defeating the final boss of The Majin Lands, Rezaa, The Dream Custodian

Class Feature: Take 15% more damage.

Class Starter Relic: Cower

(No but seriously why use this class? -DieStressed)

Aspect of the Keen

The Aspect of the Keen is a dexterity-based class. It is focused on a hit and run playstyle, with high base stamina allowing for multiple attacks and dodges to get back out. Additionally, Aspect of the Keen is one of the few classes that can heavily support & amplify Crit builds, as it is able to provide +10% Crit chance when both of its class feature passive stacks are active, something that cannot be done by any Seeds and is only comparable to the Finesse Blessing from The Heretic

Class Feature: Gain +5% Crit Chance for 13 seconds when you hit an enemy in the back. Stacks 2 times. Duration is refreshed when a new stack is applied.

Class Starter Relic: Slayer's Mark

Aspect of the Magnolia

The Aspect of the Magnolia is the default class for players beginning the game. It has balanced stats, making it suitable for most weapons, but ideal for none. However, its class feature rewards levelling into damage attributes that scale with the wielded weapon. Overall, it is one of the most balanced classes, with a fairly strong Relic suitable for co-op play.

Class Feature: Gain 0.25% increased damage for each attribute.

Class Starter Relic: Magnolian Effigy

Aspect of the Oak

The Aspect of the Oak balances strength and toughness. When leveling INT, FAI, & TOU, any resistances gained are increased by 1.5x (50%), which allow for a very strong & reliable tank class. Additionally, through use of its class Relic, at base Dexterity that comes with the Aspect, you can provide yourself a 30% damage increase.

Class Feature: Gain 50% more resistances from base attributes per point.

Class Starter Relic: Unrestrained

Aspect of the Plague

The Aspect of the Plague balances faith and intelligence, with its class feature favouring elemental builds. It is the class with the highest FAI/INT base stats, save for the Aspect of the Support. As such, it synergizes extremely well with the Hallowed Branch & Typhlotic Pair weapons. Additionally, DOT builds are extremely strong with this class, and can be used extremely well in Co-Op given that kill credit is assigned to anyone who has done damage to enemies in a ~10s time period, allowing for its Class Feature to have high uptime.

It can be unlocked by defeating an Alchemist.

Class Feature: On Hit: Decrease target's elemental resistance by 5% of 5s. When you kill an enemy afflicted by this you gain +1 to a random attribute for 45s.

Class Starter Relic: Plague Spreader

Aspect of the Seedling

The Aspect of the Seedling balances favours toughness and stamina, which, combined with its class feature, make it favour survivability. It is an extremely good class for anyone struggling with their runs, as having high base stamina and toughness is essential for every run. (IMO, ~15 TOU & ~15 STA is the minimum required for every run) Additionally, having the forgiveness of +3 extra Nectar allows for more mistakes to be made without worry, which is especially important on higher awareness levels of 6 and above, which removes 2 Nectar.

It is unlocked by dying for the first time.

Class Feature: +3 Nectar.

Class Starter Relic: Growth

Aspect of the Serpent

The Aspect of the Serpent is an extremely strong and unique class, as it is the sole class that allows the player to "spec into" Lightning damage at the start of a run. It increases Lightning damage by a staggering 35%, This singlehandedly allows for the already powerful Lightning damage to become oppressive & run defining, while its Base stats allow for easy early games.

It is unlocked via the Pink Sand Post Boss Interaction

Class Feature: Increases Lightning Damage by 35%

Class Starter Relic: Serpent Ring

Aspect of the Shriveled Lord

The Aspect of the Shriveled Lord is a balanced class with extremely low stats, but its class feature allows for more levelling through the increased amount of blood gained from killing enemies. This is counteracted, however, with the fact that it is the class with the lowest base stats in the game, meaning that despite the ~50% extra blood allowing for ~1.5x levels, the class is deceptively weak. (This is my own opinion as someone who loved this class until I realized I could just play Aspect of the Seed / Serpent and do alot better consistently -DieStressed) The main draw of this class, however, is through its Relic, Gluttonous Feast, allowing for minor damage to be healed without the need of wasting Nectar. The classes true strength truly comes from when it is paired with the Blessing of The Weeping Matriarch, Litany of Mercy, allowing for a 90% increase in Blood acquired, which can make up for the low base stats.

It is unlocked by completing Malvo, The Gluttonous' Questline.

Class Feature: Gain 50% more blood from killed enemies.

Class Starter Relic: Gluttonous Feast

Aspect of the Summoner

The Aspect of the Summoner favours faith, intelligence and dexterity and is ideal for summoning builds, as the name suggests. It is especially useful for the Typhlotic Pair weapon, as the weapons special allows for the summoning of a Doppleganger that counts as a summoned ally for the class feature.

It is unlocked by playing where the Dreamcallers Curse is active and can be randomly dropped by one of the Caller enemies as a soul. The Dreamcallers Curse must be unlocked by giving the Blacksmith three shards of steel, which require the player to have progressed to at least the Grand Library stage of the Domain of Attar'Esh.

Class Feature: Periodically summon a fragment of yourself while in combat. You deal 10% less damage but your summons deal 10% more damage.

Class Starter Relic: Summon Helper

Aspect of the Support

The Aspect of the Support balances favours faith and healing allies. It is an extremely useful class for Co-Op, as minor damage instances / mistakes done by teammates. Additionally, the Barrier provided by the class can be substantial, especially in boss fights. It is one of the best Aspects for multiplayer, and even single player.

Class Feature: Your healing effects apply Barrier based on 25% of the heal.

Class Starter Relic: Aeonic Flower

Aspect of the Trickster

The Aspect of the Trickster is relatively balanced, with slight favouring of dexterity. It is a unique class that favors the use of Relics, allowing for high damage done by Relics. It starting class Relic is extremely useful aswell, capable of dealing high Fire damage at range.

Class Feature: All relics gain 1 extra charge

Class Starter Relic: Unshackling Flame
